I really like the idea here. Students need to build communities of shared knowledge and the social skills to work together. Each has so many interesting things to say–it’s embarrassing to think that we know more, especially with literature. I applaud your efforts and the process. This is about youths’ voices being valued, by you, their classmates, and themselves. It’s about opening up to learning from everyone. That type of democratic environment you created in this lesson is what education is supposed to do.
